My daughter, Briana wrote me a song this year for Christmas. It's called Mother.
This is HUGE for me as she has had a really rough year. The words to the song are very meaningful to me as well for we have worked through allot of forgiveness issues and the song says so much. My words can't express much, all I can say is this is the most beautiful gift ever!
(I must not forget to mention, she's pretty talented for a 15 year old, eh?) Link to Briana's Song
Okay, thanks to Amanda I did the whole face recognition thing. I was traumatized!
Only ONE female came up? It says I look like a bunch of MEN, everyone from Brad Pitt to Elton John, even Chris Farley (yikes) and I'm ashamed to say, Larry King...come on! What's this mean? Great, now more gender identity issues!
I read a devotion this morning that caused me to question something. I welcome your thoughts ~
The devotion was based on 2 Corinthians 11:3 NIV ~ "I am afraid that just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, your minds may somehow be led astray."
And the writer began by saying: "Temptation begins in your mind. Satan gave Eve the idea of eating the forbidden fruit. Eve wasn’t just standing there trying to figure out how to disobey God. You must understand that the initial thought to do evil, is not from you."
I agree with temptation starting in your mind with your thought life but doesn't the underlined sentence contradict what James 1:14 says? "each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed"
So now I'm wondering if we are tempted both by the enemy AND our own evil desire and if so how can you tell the difference when faced with temptation? Is this coming from you satan because you know my weak spot or is it an evil desire that has surfaced from my own heart that requires my attention?
Do you see the confusion in what he says regarding "the initial thought to do evil is not from you?" I may disagree with this thought by saying that at times I believe it is, as James says, my own evil desires that drag me away and entice. The initial thought may very well be from me. But what a relief if it's not.
Any thoughts?
Today, December 18th, is National Roast Suckling Pig Day.
Guess there is a day for everything!
In response to Randy's request ~
This is my current journal. A friend brought me this all the way from Alaska. It's a picture of a Puffin. He told me that there are signs all around Alaska with pictures of Puffin's circled with a line through them reading "No Puffin"...cute, eh?
Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I keep Your word....
It is good for me that I have been afflicted,
that I may learn Your statutes.

Ukrainian scientist has invented a tallking plate that tells you off when the food on your plate starts to weigh too much. Silly? Yes! And it also doesn't do anything for those of us who pile on high-cal foods that don't weigh a lot -- like chips. Read about this and other quirky inventions of his here.
This is very inspirational!
Father Roman Braga, an Orthodox priest, talks humbly about his experience in a communist prison for 11 years, the first three years being in solitary confinement, which he surprisingly describes as "beautiful". His imprisonment caused him to "go inside"; inside himself to find and experience God that was more than a book, more than a ritual, more than a sacrament. The incredible story of his "conversion", as he calls it, will move you. Enjoy!

I think I deserve to buy myself a new toaster for Christmas...
The knob or handle thing broke on mine and for years I've had to use a butter knife to insert the bread. Been hanging on to it because at least it still pops up on it's own. In looking I discovered this...can you believe there is actually a toaster by William Sonoma that costs $379.00!! Who would ever pay that much for toast?
Personally I like the Pop Art toasters but I'd have to say the Amityville Toaster is my favorite.
Anyone know where I can purchase one?
What's on your wish list?
